It's not something that happens with every floor coating. As you have experienced, tires make a difference, as does the final topcoat material. More and more installers are using polyaspartic as the final coat to avoid the risk of tire staining.

I definitely noticed more on my side of the floor than my wifes side. I had Uniroyal tires on My car . My wife had Michelins. I bought new Michelins, and the yellowing dramatically decreased. Tires definitely make a big difference in the yellowing of these floors. How could anyone of known this stuff when you buy a floor .

Hi Gregory. Plasticizers that leach from certain types of tires can certainly be frustrating. The marks are usually brown in tone, though, and not yellow. Yellow sometimes indicates water or moisture getting into the coating. The type of clear coat used makes a difference as well. We have found that the polyaspartic clear coats perform the best against tire staining.

I too have yellowed tire marks. I`ve had some success with full strength Super Clean. Slight scrubbing, and leave it sit for about 5 minutes. Then powerwash it on about 2000 PSI . Seems to work good. But doing this every three months isn`t what I expected of my floor.

Hi Joseph. That's a shame you incurred tire marks immediately. It's really hit and miss sometimes with tires. We know of people who have one car that doesn't leave marks where they park, but the other car does. Glad to hear the polyaspartic is working for you. It seems to be the best clear coat to help avoid them.

My new full flake, epoxy floor is one year old. I used Amour Poxy Brand epoxy, full flakes and 2 coats of their best polyurethane topcoat. I allowed it to cure for 7 days. Tire marks showed up as soon as we parked the cars in the garage. Nothing, and I mean nothing, would totally remove the discoloring from the tires. I was sick. I finally sanded the entire floor with 80 grit sand paper and re-coated with Simiron polyaspartic high gloss top coat. So far, so good.
